  1. Meeting called to order at 0805.

  1. Discussion on policy amendments.  Reviewed last meeting’s and made suggested changes.  Distributed final set for review and discussion at the next meeting, scheduled for April 13th.

  1. Chief Tibbetts and Chief Slauter discussed the meeting yesterday with Chief Dhondt and Chief Hoggatt with Greenwood Fire Department.  There were no problems in using Engine 92 and Engine 93 as R.I.T. engines in the future.  This change will be discussed with the Greenwood Senior Staff next week and implemented soon thereafter.  Also discussed the possibility of transferring our dispatch services to the Greenwood site.  There are many advantages to this scenario and no real obstacles foreseen.  There will need to be meetings held with the Greenwood Police Department on the issue since they are in charge of the dispatch system in Greenwood.  A change, if any, will likely take several months to take place as there are many logistical issues to be handled.

  1. Chief Tibbetts spoke briefly about the departure of Kim Clawson and the need for a replacement.

  1. Personnel issues:  Nick Smith has been granted an extension on his leave of absence by Chief Tibbetts which will now expire on June 1st.  He graduates from college on May 13th and should be able to return to his part-time status shortly thereafter.  Also, Joe Walters has resigned his position on B-shift effective March 29th.  Chief Wilson is handling the logistics.

  1. Chief Cassin gave an update on the mobile laptop project.  Mounting of hardware should start next week.  Lieutenant Hurrle is handling the scheduling of equipment and is starting with the staff cars, specifically the pool cars.  The laptops themselves are still backordered and are tentatively scheduled for the middle of April.

  1. Chief Cassin also reminded the Battalion Chiefs to make sure their respective employee’s time sheets are turned in by Monday.  This will be the first payroll session without Kim and there may be some added pressure in getting everything completed by Wednesday’s deadline.  He’s asking everyone to please be patient during this transition period.

  1. Chief Tibbetts and Chief Cassin are going to Warren Township Fire Department this afternoon to look at a software package that is designed specifically for the fire service that handles all facets of employee tracking with an emphasis on payroll.  They will report back on their findings.

  1. The painters will be starting to paint next week on April 6, 7, and 8.  The crews will be getting everything ready by then.  Captain Arkins has been working with the lieutenants on each shift to make sure things are getting done.

  1. Chief Slauter advised everyone that Engine 51 will be going to Stoops next week for the dent repair of the damage caused in the collision at the High School a few months back.  The engine is expected to be out five days.  A note was made in the Battalion Log.

  1. Chief Thacker discussed the two hiring processes that are currently under way.  The full-time Administrative Assistant position has collected 20+ applications with another 50+ still outstanding.  Applications are due back by tomorrow afternoon (Friday, March 31) for this position.  The part-time process is still on schedule with the interviews going on now.  He states that we should have a pretty good list of candidates to choose from at the conclusion of the process.

  1. Chief Tibbetts mentioned that he received a letter stating the good job that Captain Joe Settles did while on a training exercise in West Virginia last week.  He reiterated that he was proud of the job he did and how he represents the White River Township Fire Department in a positive and professional manner.

  1. The meeting concluded at 09:15.
