Lt. Hart

Capt. Arkins
Capt. Settles

  1. Meeting called to order at 0805.

  1. Discussion on policy amendments.

  1. All reports are confidential and must be treated as such.  There is to be no discussion regarding incidents outside of the department.  Anyone requesting a copy of a run report must go through Chief Brown (for fire reports) and Captain Hart (for EMS reports).  If they are unavailable, Chiefs Tibbetts or Cassin will authorize any release of information.  These rules are effective, regardless of the person or agency requesting the information.  Chief Tibbetts will be issuing a memo and a policy regarding this later today.

  1. Chief Tibbetts commended everyone on their efforts at the recent fire.

  1. Chief Slauter discussed dispatch protocol change to show Greenwood Engines 92 or 93 as the primary RIT responses.

  1. Chief Slauter reminded everyone that if someone on a scene is requesting a specific piece of apparatus, that no other officer that isn’t there should be overriding that and sending something else.  That piece of apparatus is being requested for a reason.

  1. Discussion on 2006 Fire Grant.  Ideas included:  Opticom, GIS System, and Training Trailer.  After discussion, it was agreed that we would pursue the training trailer.

  1. Chief Slauter announced that MECA renewed their contract with Motorola.

  1. Be advised that Washington Township recently responded to a field fire where they found an explosives device with fire trailers.  The device had not yet detonated.  Police arrived to detonate the device, which they believe was set up to destroy a bridge as well as cause injury to first responders.  Fishers recently had an incident with a pipe bomb.  BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON AND USE CAUTION ON ALL INCIDENTS.

  1. No definitive word yet on I69 location.

  1. Chief Cassin stated that Lt. Smith will be performing repairs at Station 53.

  1. The policy manual is almost complete and we will be making this available to personnel.  This is obviously well-ahead of the July 1 date originally set to have this project complete.

  1. Chief Thacker stated that several part-time firefighter applications have been picked up but only four have been returned.  They are due back tomorrow by 4pm.

  1. Chief Brown announced that there have been multiple recent issues with run reports being incomplete or completed incorrectly.  He and Captain Hart will be giving an update at the regular staff meeting later this morning.  Chief Slauter stated that this has been an ongoing problem and there will be little improvement until personnel begin being disciplined for this.

  1. Captain Hart gave an update on the EMS division, including EMS protocol changes which are available for viewing on the server.  He asked that everyone provide him input on these protocols, so he can then forward them on to the medical director.

  1. Kim announced that she has tendered her two weeks notice and her last day will be Friday, March 24.
