- Meeting
called to order at 8:11 a.m.
- Dudley
Senefeld is working on concept design for what
will fit on the station 52 room addition. Chief Tibbetts
stated that Lt. Smith’s project right now is the restrooms at station
52. After the concept design is
created then Lt. Smith will be the contact. Until then, Chief Tibbetts
is the contact person. Dudley Senefeld is working on concept design for what will
fit on the station 51 lot. Chief Tibbetts
stated that not everyone needs to be included in this project. He also stated that he was upset that he
was not being included in various department projects and that would cease
immediately.
- Jackie
Emmons, the new receptionist, starts May 24. Chief has narrowed it down to 10 people;
the top two finished close. She was
chosen based on her longer tenure at her jobs than the other person
did. Anything that the receptionist
or Kim are to do is to be cleared through the
Chief first.
- 20
applications returned for part time process. Amy reviewed them yesterday and 2 of
those don’t qualify. Chief Slauter is sending them letters explaining that they
don’t qualify and that they will remain in the file for the next
process. Written exam is 0800 on
May 15 and will be immediately followed by physical agility, which is being
headed by Lieutenant Wilson. Interviews
are May 19-21 and will be conducted by two corporation personnel and one
career personnel. Orientation is
June 7 & 8 and they must attend one of the two. June 14 is their Battalion ride
time. Once they are competent, they
will be released to work on duty hours.
- Career
hiring process is still on track and their written exam is May 8.
- Vacation
calendar is now in reception area and all approved requests for 2004 are
entered.
- Bluff Road
house fire participants asked Chief Young to forward their thanks to our
department. Congratulations to
Chief Thacker on a great job organizing this event.
- Chief
Young accepted into National
Fire Academy
courses May 29-30 and June 1-2.
- Chief
Young on vacation 15-22.
- Chief
Young reports that the new golf shirts are a “hit” with the crews.
- Please
remind your personnel when they need to wear their safety vests.
- Chief Slauter reports that after the past 3 or 4 shifts the
A shift has found the seat belt sensors disconnected on Engine 52. This is a recurring problem and it’s not
certain if it’s occurring on B Shift or C Shift. Chief Young will draft a memo addressing
this issue. Chief Tibbetts stated that there will be no memo – he will
address this personally with the station 52 crews. Chief Cassin
stated that there still needs to be a memo drafted reminding everyone that
seatbelt usage is MANDATORY.
- Chief Cassin stated that the computer system is now up and
running. Kim thanked him for his 60
and 80 hour work weeks while this was getting done.
- Chief Cassin is off next week. Chief Tibbetts
will be out many of those days as well.
Chief Slauter will be in command those
days that Chief Tibbetts is out. Chief Tibbetts
stated that he will be off May 4th because he is working the
election.
- 2005
budget is similar to the 2004 budget, with the exception of a full year of
salaries. We are also changing out
two staff cars and replacing the current grass rig, which will become a
maintenance vehicle. The budget draft
will be presented to the district board at Tuesday night’s meeting. Chief Cassin
has included a Monday through Friday training chief in this budget. He feels that with the large addition of
our full time staff this year, we will definitely need a daily training
person next year. Everyone agreed
with Chief Cassin’s plan and there was no
further discussion. He also stated
that he anticipates the long term plan being worked on and completed
during May.
- Chief Tibbetts reported that Tricia Leminger
has said that if the wireless networking company that we have been working
with is the only company around, we can go ahead and work with them
without the need for three quotes.
This will be addressed at the District board meeting Tuesday night.
- Chief Tibbetts spoke with Joe Pitcher yesterday. Joe has money coming in this year and next
year for getting digital radios for all fire departments.
