  1. Meeting called to order at 0810.

  1. Discussion on staffing issues.

-         Chief Slauter will be speaking with Chief Thacker tonight regarding proposed personnel changes to the b-shift.  If he has no issues, Chief Tibbetts will notify Mike Hoffman that he is no longer a chauffeur and is being removed from his 24 hour shift position due to his extensive time off.  Should this occur, Chief Slauter will immediately begin the process of filling this vacancy, which will be posted for 5 days.

-         No hiring will be performed until well after we know what is going to happen with our maximum levy appeal on November 25th.

-         Effective November 1, 2003, minimum hours required will be 48 hrs per month and will be limited to on duty hours worked only.  No longer will we accept training hours from other agencies towards the minimum requirement.

-         Much discussion ensued regarding potential exceptions that may need to be granted (ie:  death of family member, vacations, child care issues, etc.).  Chiefs Tibbetts and Cassin will deal with each of those on a case by case basis.

  1. Chief Cassin will be posting a memo soon regarding apparatus cleanliness, no sleeping while on duty, and sick/late call ins.  (Further discussion on each follows.)

  1. Effective immediately, no officer is allowed to sleep during the day, the exception being illness (ie:  headache, flu, etc.).  Those will be dealt with on a case by case basis.  No sleeping policy will be enforced EVERY DAY, including weekends, 0700-1700.

  1. Effective immediately, crews will not be permitted to sleep in the recliners.

  1. All sick/late call ins should be made directly to the on duty battalion chief and not to the station that person is to report to.

  1. Chief Young is still working on re-implementing the school lunch program.

  1. Chief Brown stated that Fire Prevention week is being headed this year by Lieutenants Smith and Engmark due to court subpoenas he and several others have received for that week.

  1. Chief Tibbetts stated he has met with Joe Pitcher regarding corporation dissolution issues.

  1. Chief Tibbetts stated he has met with Senefeld and Associates (architects) regarding plans for a future station.
