White River Township Fire Department Senior Staff Meeting May 15, 2003

1. Meeting called to order at 0810 hours by Chief Tibbetts.

2. Discussion held on purchasing an ice machine for station 53. Due to costs and current budget situation, project placed on hold until extra money becomes available in the cumulative fund or station 53 capital projects fund. Chief Cassin has all information that was researched.

3. Chief Young reported that the physical fitness committee has met. The baseline physical “prescriptions” should be completed by the 2^nd week of June. Chief Young reminded everyone that peer leadership would set the course for the department and he encouraged all officers to participate. There will be a cover sheet that all parties will sign agreeing to confidentiality. Chief Young will have a packet ready at the next Senior Staff meeting for everyone’s review.

4. Chief Cassin stated that he has received 21 of the 37 fire department surveys back. He will be re-sending requests for the outstanding surveys.

5. Personnel updates:
1. Rick Cooley is on a leave 6/1 – 8/31
2. Justin Laraway has been released due to inactivity.
3. Steve Rowland has resigned.

6. Chief Tibbetts stated that he will be having eye surgery in two weeks and will be off for recovery for one week.

7. Chief Slauter will be creating an SOG for the battalion response on mutual aid runs.

8. Chief Young complimented those involved no the run where the child was locked in the car and later died. He reminded everyone that CISD is available for us to use and works, as was proven on this incident.

9. Please try to attend District board meetings so that all parties are aware of issues being presented.

10. Strategic planning meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 28^th at Community Church of Greenwood at 8am.
