Senior Staff Meeting Minutes July
13, 2001
Present: Chief Tibbetts, Chief Brown, Chief Cassin, Chief
Thacker, Lieutenant Settles, Lieutenant Alexander and Kim Clawson.

Meeting called to order at 0900 hours.
- Discussion
on new uniform t-shirts. New design
agreed upon and will be on a 50/50 blend shirt. Chief Brown will take care of ordering
these. Also, effective August 1,
2001 authority Chief Tibbetts, all Chief officers when on duty between
0800-1700 will wear their white dress shirt. After discussion, all agreed that the
name plate should be placed under the badge.
- At
the FPDB meeting 7/11, they agreed to purchase 2 staff vehicles and 1
engine. Each Battalion Chief will
have his own FD vehicle. A policy
will be created regarding take home vehicles.
- Chiefs
Cassin, Brown and Thacker will begin work immediately on the next
Battalion Chief/Lieutenant process.
We will be conducting a fast but thorough process in order to
present a name at the 8/9/01 District meeting. The next Battalion Chief will serve as
the Operations Chief. The next
Lieutenant that is hired will be placed at station 52.
- Chief
Tibbetts will be on vacation July 26-30, returning July 31. Chief Cassin will be next in charge.
- Chief
Tibbetts stated that he plans on holding an appreciation day for employees
of the fire department on 7/22 or 8/4 at station 53. This will be an early afternoon cookout/hog
roast.
- Seniority
for district personnel will be based on the employee’s official hire date
with the District and then in order of test scores. Vacation/leave requests will be granted
in order of seniority and rank.
- We
are having problems getting the sewer work completed in a timely and
organized fashion at station 51.
Chief Tibbetts will follow up on this today.
- Chief
Cassin explained how to access the voice mail for the battalion line. He also stated that he would create a
“cheat sheet” for obtaining voice mail messages and call forwarding on the
battalion line.
- Chief
Thacker said that he will be organizing a mini-leadership conference after
January. Multiple topics will be
discussed over the course of two
weeks, including SOGs, safety, protocols, benefits, administrative
procedures, etc.
- Chief
Thacker reminded other Battalions that everyone should respond on a
confirmed working incident.
However, only the companies dispatched should respond on alarms.
- Chief
Thacker requested that we develop a response protocol during storm
conditions which would cover the necessary modified responses.
- Lt.
Alexander reminded Battalions who are also Paramedics that they are
responsible for the station 53 narcotics and EMS equipment. Please remember to check these items
accordingly.
- Lt.
Alexander stated that next weeks trainings will be on SORs. We are currently experiencing
approximately 30%-40% error rate and we should be no higher than 15%. The next A&R is scheduled at White
River Fire Station 53 at 7:00 p.m.
- Chief
Brown gave a brief update on pending district construction projects:
