White River Township Fire Protection District | |
Senior Staff Meeting | |
January 12, 2000 | |
================================================================================= |
Present: Chief
Dutton, Chief; Mike Tibbetts, Battalion Chief; Scott Cassin Battalion Chief;
Eric Brown, Battalion Chief; Joel Thacker, Lieutenant; Kim Clawson, Admin. Asst.
Called to order at 0900 hours.
1.
Kim gave an update on the Awards Banquet.
2.
Kim distributed copies of the most current benefits policy, which the
District Chairman signed at their last meeting.
3.
Chief Tibbetts gave an update of the status on the Aerial and the
training which is upcoming. Chief
Dutton directed him and Lt. Thacker to work on getting FDIC passes from KME.
4.
Chief Brown gave an update on the new Headquarters.
The next step is the wage hearing, which must be conducted prior to the
bid process is started. Brian Bosma
is running an official title search on the property now.
5.
Chief Dutton will be sending a letter to EMAS requesting that they
voluntarily extend their stay until the end of March.
If they pull out at the end of January, as they are currently saying they
will, they will be giving only a 30 day notice, not the 90 day notice which is
currently in the contract. If they
refuse, Chief Dutton will be contacting Brian Bosma.
Lt. Alexander and Chief Dutton would like to see the District Board commit to a department-based ambulance to be placed in
service January 1, 2001. We must
first get the new headquarters underway before addressing this project with
them.
6.
Lt. Alexander contacted Robin Stump at the State EMS Commission, who
stated that, for a temporary fix only, we could move our engine’s ALS
equipment to Medic 51 and staff it with two of our EMTs with the engine’s
medic responding as needed.
7.
Lt. Thacker stated that, after discussion with the contractors at the
construction site next door to station 52, he feels we should reevaluate our
decision to install bracing piers under the foundation of the south bay at
station 52. The contractors are
extremely confident that our building will see little or no more
movement/sinking once they have filled their land in and concluded construction.
Chief Dutton said that we will revisit this issue when they are finished.
8.
Lt. Thacker reminded everyone that he needs to have your paperwork ASAP
for FDIC classes.
9.
Chief Tibbetts gave an update on the MECA project.
10.
Chief Dutton stated that the next BIF money that is received, whether
released from alternative MECA funding, or a separate grant altogether, will
concentrate first on the new exhaust for the Aerial at station 52, trench rescue
trailer, and a tow package for Rescue 51.
11. No further new business and meeting adjourned. Next meeting will be January 18 at 0900 hours.
