Present: Mike Dutton (late due to meeting), Mike Tibbetts, Scott Cassin, Bruce Alexander, Joel Thacker and Kim Clawson
Meeting called to order at 0910 hours.

them ordered. When it’s time for
refills, be sure to let her know at least one month ahead of time.
2.
New employee paperwork passed out and completed by all present.
Kim will get with Chief Brown after Fire Prevention Week.
3.
Benefits reviewed. Changes
to comp time book / time sheets explained.
4.
Chief Tibbetts reminded everyone to be sure to schedule Reserves on the
apparatus whenever possible. This
allows them to get the necessary hands-on training, as well as getting paid for
any off duty runs they respond on.
5.
Kim announced that the Awards Banquet has been scheduled for Saturday,
January 29, 2000 at Valle Vista. Please
try not to schedule any large trainings or other department events for that
weekend!
6. Anticipated pay raises:
October 99 – Hired at salaries on salary resolution.
January 00 – Four new hires get 2% cost of living raise.
Fire Marshal gets 4% cost of living + merit raise.
Chief & Admin. Asst. get 4% cost of living + merit raise.
October 00 – Four new hires get 2% merit raise.

Kim has keys to the main entrance door at station 52…if anyone wants
one, let her or Scott know. Also
please let Scott know if you need any other keys.
8.
’77 PERF fund documents distributed for everyone’s review.
We must elect someone who is eligible for this fund to the local Pension
Board. Motion by Scott & 2nd by Bruce to appoint Joel
to that Board. All in favor and
motion carries.
9.
Chief Dutton has asked that Chief Cassin make the policy manual available
on all department computers in a read-only format.
This was a suggestion at the last regular staff meeting.
10.
Light duty policy.
11.
Chief Tibbetts will establish a seniority list for the District
employees. A copy will be kept with
the vacation schedule.
12.
Kim warned everyone that FireHouse Software is not yet Y2K compliant.
The calendar is incorrect. Be
sure to note this if you schedule anything after January 1.
An update should be coming soon which will cure this problem.
13.
Suggestion made to order uniforms from same vendor if at all possible so
that they begin to look alike.
14.
Chief Tibbetts will be working with Lt. Pell to ensure that medics are
scheduled at station 51 as often as possible.
15.
A light duty policy is already in place.
See policy 107 under “sick leave”.
16.
Lt. Thacker stated that the SWAT medic class will probably be postponed
until sometime after Thanksgiving to allow everyone ample time to make room in
their schedules.
17.
Lt. Alexander asked for help from Chief Cassin & Lt. Thacker with
upcoming EMS Operations trainings.
18.
Lt. Alexander has sent a certified letter to Ray Werts demanding that he
obtain a physical as required by department policy, and demanding that the issue
PHTLS cards to those participants who successfully completed the class several
months ago. Chief Dutton informed
him to allow Mr. Werts one week to respond.
If he does not, further action will be taken.
19.
Chief Tibbetts asked that everyone come in for their shift at least 15
minutes prior to the start of that shift. This is not a requirement, but a common courtesy to the
person you are relieving. This
allows for you to be better prepared to start your shift at the designated time,
as well as allows for the accurate transfer of information between shifts.
20.
Chief Tibbetts has implemented a ‘no visitors’ policy on his shift
which forces non-department members off station at 2200 hours.
If it is a reserve that is on station, he asks that they be in uniform,
ready to catch the truck on a run, or else go home.
He reminded everyone present today that eventhough it is a public
building, if someone is on station causing a disruption, you have the authority
to make them leave.
21.
Chief Dutton stated that it is his intention for the Battalion Chief to
be moved to the engine only in the case of minimum staffing.
There absolutely must be a medic on Engine 52 at ALL TIMES!
Having a medic in the Battalion and not on Engine 52 is no longer
acceptable practice.
