IF YOU WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND, REMEMBER TO CONTACT YOUR LIEUTENANT IF YOU

HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING ANYTHING THAT WAS DISCUSSED.

1.        Aerial was approved and the committee is meeting tomorrow to finalize some things.  It will still be tight to get it in by the end of the year.  Good news though:  the State did not 'cut' any of the items that were on the truck.  Chief Dutton mentioned that we are starting to look like we are specializing in all forms of rescue.  We have stated before that water rescue will be primary.

2.        Johnson County has a plan for obtaining the 800 MHz system, but they don't want to finance it.  Theoretically the State has money available for the receiving sights.  Greenwood is also discussing going to 800 MHz system.  It will be at least another year.  Chief Dutton directed Chief Pell to develop criteria for dispatch complaints and document the same.

3.        Notice the on call Chiefs spot on the November schedule.  This is to be used when the on duty battalion can't answer a question, borrowing of equipment, etc.  Jeremy Pell has posted a memo on this.

4.        There will be an EMT-P meeting November 11, Station 51, 1300 hours.  Several issues will be discussed, including medic staffing after PMT Ambulance is in service.

5.        Remember to submit newsletter items to Scott Cassin by the end of the month.  Newsletters will be available with the first paycheck of each month.

6.        Joel discussed implementation of the preceptor program for new Paramedics who work at WRTFD only.  They will be required to obtain the following:

-          5 ALS runs, either here or at Wishard (as a student), where 3 or more ALS skills are used

-          a Mega Code session with either Settles, T.Arkins, Dr. Fried, Abel or Thacker

-          8 hour rotation w/Dr. Fried in the ER

-          Protocol Test

-          Approval from Medical Director and the Chief

7.        Derek Blice, Robert Crocker, and Joe Boggs have been terminated for inability to meet minimum requirements as set forth in policy manual.  Lara Stratton has resigned from the Reserve Division and joined the Auxiliary.  Through attrition, the compensated ranks have reached 60 again and will remain there.  After approval from both staff meetings, the following people will be hired, effective 10/28/98.  They are listed in the order they scored:

-          Brian Skipper

-          Brian McRoberts

-          Jerry Harder

-          Kerry Bancroft

-          Jason Bailey

-          Mike Combs

-          Kirk Schilling

-          James Murphy

-          Gary Borden

-          Gary J. Marcum

-          John McMillan

Casey Arkins was directed to obtain remaining equipment from Crocker.

8.        Budget update - no extravagant expenditures are to be made.

9.        FPDB update - there will be meetings this week between members of our Board of Directors, our attorney, District Board members, and their attorney that will hopefully resolve various issues and we can restore subcommittee activity.

10.     State EMS Commission is unable to inspect PMT's ambulance at this time.  They have stated they will be down in approximately 2 weeks and they will call first.  Joel wants E52 in perfect condition as they will probably do a surprise inspection of it while they are there.

11.     Board of Directors voted on and passed, 4-0, Salaries and Benefits Package.  Mike Hoffman abstained from voting.

12.     Tanker 52 must remain in service during trainings.  If you have enough people, put both E52 and T52 in service to come down to station 51.  If you do not, bring E52 to station 51 but be prepared to respond back to station 52 to get the Tanker and be sure to back the Engine in the bay and shut the bay doors.

13.     Station 52 has recently become an after-party crash site.  This is unacceptable and will be stopped immediately.  Any officer on duty when this happens is responsible.

14.     Chief Dutton has directed all crews to have ALL station duties completed by 0800 hours so that the stations are presentable to the public.

15.     Chad discussed rough draft of new water rescue SOG.  Copies will be made available to all officers and battalion personnel.

16.     Joel talked to Indiana Gas regarding a response problem we had with them earlier this week.  Their protocols are to have one of their units on the scene in 30 minutes or less.  Joel is also having Indiana Gas check into the liability involved with the FD storing and using some of their equipment when necessary.

17.     Joel has received the training permits for houses in our area to be burned for training.  We will be training with the Sheriff's Department at the Olive Branch Road house.

18.     Employee of the Quarter:  Steve Rowland for all his hard work on the maps.

19.     Joe Settles presented the MCI Plan draft.  All officers and battalions are asked to carefully review this so a Final Plan can be agreed on at November's staff meeting.
