  1. Personnel Updates:
    1. Dale Saucier is now on duty.
    2. Edward Carlson is on an extended leave.

  1. Building is set to begin on new Station 51.  No one is to visit the site during the day, it interferes with the workers.  If you do visit the site hard hats must be worn.  The site can be seen after work hours if anyone is interested in the progress.

  1. The work on Station 52 is already in progress.

  1. Chief Brown discussed the new ordinance.  He distributed the new warning forms and discussed the situations in which they are to be issued.  Warnings are to be issued to false alarms, incorrect display of residential addresses and unauthorized open burns.  The white copy is to be given to the person for whom the warning is issued and the yellow copy is to be given to Chief Brown.  Chief Tibbetts warned about being to aggressive in issuing the warnings.  If there is a problem contact the Battalion Chief, Chief Brown or anyone in the Fire Marshall’s office.

  1. Chief Brown explained when responding to an open burn, a legitimate burn permit will be embossed.  Citations can be issued if they are burning something they are not supposed to be burning or if they are repeat offenders.  If this needs to be addressed contact Chief Brown or someone in that office to take care of the problem.

  1. Chief Cassin discussed the Policy Manual.  The updated manual is now on the web site in pdf format.  The table of content lists everything in alphabetical order; the index page in the back lists most frequently used words and the pages they would be found on.  Each page now contains an adopted date and a last revision date.  If you have two copies of the same section just check to make sure you keep the one with the most recent revision date.

  1. The election was discussed.  Chief Tibbetts has spoken briefly with Anita Knowles and he believes she is willing to assist the department.  Also Jay Marks is believed to be interested is assisting if elected.

  1. Captain Hart discussed the new protocol to go into effect on June 1st.  Manuals have been distributed to offices, medics and each station.  There is also new IO for rescue, each apparatus has been issued theirs and replacement needles will be kept at Station 52 with Captain Hart.

  1. The possible ambulance problem in Johnson County was discussed.  Perry Township will no longer be using Rural Metro and Greenwood is doing their own feasibility study and will more than likely do the same.  Captain Hart will talk to IAFF about a study into starting our own service.  Funding for this possibility was discussed, such as an EMS tax.  Tony Slusher has spoken to Jay Marks who may be okay with the tax.  The best possible scenario of civilian vs. firefighter to staff the ambulance will be reviewed and discussed later.  Civilian may be the better route, their contracts can be drawn up to allow them to assist the firefighters with most tasks, except going into the structure.  This is one way firefighters will not need to be pulled off trucks to run the ambulance.

  1. Kyle Brooks brought up a flag issue on the uniform.  He wants to make sure we are following the flag law, especially when it involves the honor guard uniforms.

  1. Chief Thacker reminded everyone of trench training on May 16th, 17th, and 18th with Bargersville.  It will be wet and cold so be prepared.  There will be a dispatch to a trench incident in which there will be a rescue.
