- Chief
Thacker stated that the trainees are beat up and sore.
- Wednesday
they trained on the ladders all day.
- Thursday
they will be training in 2 room fires, go down the hallway and search.
- Friday
and Monday will be live fire and the trucks.
- Tuesday
and Wednesday will be extrication.
- Injuries:
- Greg
Hurrle tore a hamstring.
- Jason
Bailey has muscle problems.
- Tony Slusher tore a rotator cuff.
- Chief Wilson will do NFPA hose stretching
training in November.
- Lt
Arkins said the new beds are here, we are selling the old ones (frame,
mattress, & box springs) for $30.00 each.
- Lt.
Alford has the material to do the new ventilation training with the new
hires.
- The
trainees are riding with the Battalion, and then riding on an engine with
a lieutenant at the station. The
lieutenant will determine when they are read to put on the schedule.

Smith status on building projects
- Station
53 the staircase and the deck are completed
- Station
52 Oct 29th the rough-in for the water softener will be
complete then we will replace the dishwasher. The stained glass window was too
expensive to repair so Plexiglas will be installed over it. The woman’s restroom is almost finished
- Station
51 the committee met and they are half way through re-drawing the plans
to present to the architect
- Lt.
Smith status on insurance
- The
big sale was how much the district board would pitch in, the board will
pay 90% of the employee only premiums and the employee will pay 10%, the
board will pay 80% of the family premiums and the employee 20%.
- The HSA program is a 10/90 percent
split. If the person stays healthy
it rolls over to the next year and the money is interest bearing.
- A
10% fee will be assessed if you use the HSA money for items not approved.
- The
family plan employee contribution will stay the same, yet the single
employees will have to pay extra.
HSA account $3,000. a year for a family and $1,500. per year for a
single person.
- It
is through the Sagamore Network
- Wellness
benefit is included in the plan
- The
insurance kicks in after you spend your HSA account
- The
district board spends a quarter of a million on insurance now and the new
plan will be $150,000.00
- PERF –
Chief Thacker distributed the new books for disability benefits
- Lt.
Hart said EMS expo has our mass casualty
worked out
- New
tags for victims in 3 categories immediate is red, delayed is yellow, and
minor is green.
- 8
station multilator on new tactical can run it 25 ft. either way. The oxygen cylinder is portable
- Red,
yellow, and green tarps on the tactical
- Julie
Settles will do a class on triage for mass casualties
- Monitors
will be going in to have the software upgrades done soon
- Digital
reporting systems need to be used by 2006 – 2007
- All
3 trucks need to be striped and reorganize the EMT equipment
- We
need to make a splint box
- Possibly
we will buy 3 new boxes for drugs by the end of the year
- A
new paramedics class is set for January 2005. Get a letter to Chief Tibbetts if you
want to attend.
- National
skill levels are changing for EMTs
- New
tactical is at Donley getting detailed, serviced, cascade bottles, and
then it will go to Square One Graphics to get striped
- Speak
up now if you want to make a lateral move because we are getting ready to
start scheduling. There will be no senority bumps, that would
not be fair.
- Chief
Slauter said good job and thank you to Lt. Arkins, Lt. Smith, and Lt.
Alford for hanging in there and doing a great job. Please hang in there one more month.
- Help
the firefighters that do not normally work a particular shift and guide
them through the duties for that particular shift.
- Chief
Thacker said we will let you know what training procedures the new hires
went through and the specifics so the seasoned firefighters will be aware
of the training and everybody will be on the same page.
