  1. If you’re asked to do something during the recruit class, please cooperate.  Please make new personnel feel welcome.

  1. Status of hiring processes:
    1. Battalion Chief hiring process completed.  Congratulations to Jeff Wilson.
    2. Captains’ hiring process completed.  Congratulations to Casey Arkins, Joe Settles and Jim Engmark.
    3. Working on getting fourth Captain spot approved by the FPDB.

  1. We are implementing EMS gear to keep dirty turnout gear out of homes.  It is blooodborne pathogen approved gear.  It has no fire resistant properties so it is for in-home EMS runs ONLY.  Full set is approximately $220, or you can buy each piece separately.  This is something that you will need to purchase out of your clothing allowance.

  1. New fire gear should be in later this week.  Backup gear needs to be turned in by tomorrow.

  1. New part time employees will be going through orientation on either October 13 or 16.  There are 16 new hires.  The goal is to have them street ready by November 1 and on a shift by December 1.

  1. Next week is Fire Prevention week.  Open house is Wednesday at 5pm.  Please be patient as that week will be extremely hectic.  Training will be performed at the company level.

  1. New SOG approved by Chief Tibbetts for single family dwellings.  Training on this SOG will occur next week at the company level.

  1. Please be patient with the scheduling over the next several weeks during recruit school.  If you are uncomfortable with your crew, please notify your Battalion Chief so that appropriate measures can be taken.

  1. Senior staff will determine placement of new full time recruits.  Staff placement will be what benefits the department the most.
