  1. Job responsibility surveys have been received from almost all Lieutenants.  Chief Cassin thanked those who submitted one for their input and stated that the Chiefs are reviewing possible changes to the weekly schedules.

  1. Chauffer check lists are completed and Lt. Smith thanked everyone for their help.  These will be in service January 1st and will be up to the shift officers to enforce.

  1. Key to maintenance room has been returned to the lock box.  Please make sure the door stays locked when that room is not in use or the key will be removed.

  1. EMS division updates:
    1. BLS bags will be in service before January.
    2. AEDs are being ordered, along with two trainers and should be in sometime in January.
    3. Please be sure to thoroughly document your assessments.

  1. Lt. Skipper expressed his disappointment in not having more help during the toy drive.  It’s almost over and we have helped over 125 kids.  Thanks to those who did help.

  1. Meeting of Johnson County Firefighters Association tonight, here.

  1. Displeasure was expressed that the corporation has not accountability for their expenditures.

  1. Displeasure was also expressed at a recent disciplinary action that the corporation board failed to deal with.  Chief Tibbetts urged everyone not to stop disciplinary actions when needed, and stated that we are in the process of trying to dissolve that corporation.

  1. Lt. Settles stated that we have 8 spots available for river rescue school in September.  Please see him for more information.

  1. Lt. Settles requested that we hire a professional grant writer for the 2004 FEMA Grant and that we begin discussing now for items that we should apply for.

  1. Lt. Settles asked that a bid process begin for shift and station assignments for career personnel.  He stated that the Chief promised him this several months ago but nothing has been done about it yet.  After further discussion, no other Lieutenants that were present expressed any interest in moving shifts.  Lt. Smith did state that if he were moved to station 52 it would be easier for him to take care of necessary inspections.  Chief Tibbetts stated that since no costs are involved, that it would be up to Chief Slauter to make the determination if we will allow shift/station bidding, based on what is best for the department.  Paramedics will be given the priority.  Chief Cassin requested that this discussion be tabled until we know the outcome of the appeal, as Captains are budgeted with the new budget which could change the department’s current organization significantly.

  1. Station 51 training barn is not yet done.  The inside will be finished this winter, a roof leak still needs repaired, and one window needs to be installed.

  1. All station plumbing issues are to be taken to Daystar Services only.  The water softener at station 52 is waiting until the add-on.

  1. Chief Cassin stated that he will be issuing a memo regarding bay heaters and apparatus/POV washing at station 53.

  1. Chief Brown stated that we are once again missing several run reports.  It is the officers responsibility to make sure these get completed, regardless of who it is delegated to.  Expect offenders to be held accountable!

  1. Chief Thacker stated that we have some possible training locations that he is checking in to.

  1. Chief Tibbetts thanked Lt. Skipper for his hard work on the toy drive.

  1. Chief Tibbetts stated that vacation requests are due to him by the end of January.  Due to lack of staffing, only one person will be allowed off per shift.  Requests will be granted based on seniority.
