- Chief
Cassin requested suggestions for the Dick Van Valer award.
- Chief
Cassin gave an update on the maximum tax levy appeal meeting.
- 2004
budget is tight. PL, PA, Sick and
vacation times are all funded to be filled with a full time person.
- Chief
Slauter stated that there will be a radio in the pool car.
- Lieutenant
Settles discussed increasing job responsibilities:
~
Cut school lunch program.
~
Implement reading program on Fridays instead.
~
Chief Young, Lieutenant Engmark, Lieutenant Alford will work with
Lieutenant Skipper on developing a solution.
In the mean time, the school lunch program is suspended.
- Lieutenant
Settles stated that water rescue equipment has been received and will be placed
in the Battalion Chiefs vehicles.
- Staple
list attached. House officers will
review this and will send to the crews for a vote.
- Do not
change radio batteries unless it is needed. All radio issues are to be taken through Chief Slauter.
- Lieutenant
Hart gave an update on EMS documentation.
- Lieutenant
Hart is still working on developing a run audit committee.
- If you
have any issues regarding patient care and the ambulance crews, notify the
Battalion Chiefs who will then respond.
The Battalion Chiefs will also notify Lieutenant Hart of these
issues.
- According
to the current backing policy, any fire department member can back any
piece of apparatus. It is up to
the chauffeur to make sure that the person they think is backing them is
truly backing them.
- Kim
requested that no packages be opened in the reception area unless it is
addressed to you.
- Please
keep the reception/copier area clean.
- Kim
reminded everyone to get time sheets in on time. If you are off a few days at the end of the 28 day cycle, be
sure to look ahead and get your time sheet to your Battalion Chief early.
- New
health cards are out and the only change is the addition of a SAG # in the
address line.
- Lieutenant
Settles questioned why the Battalion Chiefs were being brought up to the
51% pay grade and no one else is.
~
Chief Cassin stated that the battalions are getting these raises to
bring them up to where they need to
be.
~
He also stated that Lieutenants were already where they needed to be
when the salary survey was
completed.
Lieutenant
Settles questioned why the Battalion Chiefs were given take home vehicles.
~ Chief Cassin replied that Battalion Chiefs
responsibilities are greater than that of a Lieutenant and all
the Chiefs are usually in the office on their days off.
~
Also, Battalion Chiefs must claim this allowance on their W2s.
~
Chief Cassin stated that the annual “extra” amount for the vehicle that
is considered as income is
usually only about $150 -
$300 per year.
~
Lieutenants have more opportunities for overtime.
