Staff Meeting Minutes
October 30 & 31, 2002
Present During Wednesday’s Meeting: Chief Tibbetts, Chief Slauter, Lt. Marsh, Lt.
Arkins, Lt. Settles, Lt. Young, Jake Kocher, Greg Maxwell, Brad Jewell, Tony
Slusher, Rhonda Holtsclaw, Andrew Tames, Corey McGaha, Ryan Cox, and Kim Clawson.
Present During Thursday’s Meeting: Chief Tibbetts, Chief Cassin, Chief Slauter,
Lt. Alexander, Lt. Skipper, Lt. Young, Lt. Settles, Lt. Alford, Tony Slusher,
Adam Whyde, Mike Hoffman, Chad Witham, Mike Shoemaker, Jake Kocher, Jory Cox,
Josh Justice and Kim Clawson.
- Now that the weather is
colder, shorts are no longer to be worn on duty during the day. However, you may wear them when working
out or after 5pm.
- Keep station
thermostats set at reasonable temperatures. Do not keep the bays warmer than 60-65
degrees. Be sure to shut the doors
when you leave.
- If you are cooking,
remember to shut the stove off when you go on a run.
- Station 52 will be
declared as an emergency replacement at Wednesday’s District meeting and
we will not need to bid it out.
- Chief Tibbetts is on
vacation 11/1 through 11/12. Chief
Cassin will be in charge. Please go
through your Lieutenants and Battalion Chiefs before contacting him with a
problem. He will remain on his
c-shift schedule.
- Chief Tibbetts has been
receiving notes under his door or in his mailbox. If you cannot meet with him
face-to-face, or if you cannot call him on the phone, then it is not
important enough for him to deal with.
Chief Tibbetts reminded everyone that he has an open door policy.
- Chief Slauter stated
that changes will be made soon at dispatch to change Aerial 52 to Aerial
53 and Tanker 53 to Tanker 52.
Reminder that if you have any problems with dispatch to put them in
writing to Chief Slauter.
- Chief Tibbetts stated
that the state tax board has recently approved a plan to increase our
maximum tax levy. The final stage
is the tax commissioner, who has the final say. If it is approved, the current plan
calls for hiring 4 Lieutenants and 12 Engineers. Chief Tibbetts stated that he will not
be hiring them all at the same time.
- Chief Tibbetts asked
that if you purchase something on a FD account and are asked to sign for
it, to please do so legibly.
- Lt. Alexander directed
everyone’s attention to a memo he has posted regarding the new
protocols. Training will be in
November & December, with the protocols taking effect January 1,
2003. You will be required to
attend one training, after which you will receive the new book.
- Lt. Alexander stated
that Dr. Gansman will not be conducting an A&R in November. Instead, he will be riding out that
month.
- Lt. Alexander stated
that Rural Metro has just released it’s A-shift Paramedic so we will be
getting a new one.
- Dr. Gansman gave us a recent
compliment on our level of SORs and treatment regimes. Good job everyone!
- The new engine is
scheduled for delivery during the week of November 15th. It will have the same EMS number as the
current Engine 52.
- Infant sodium bicarb
has expired and is on a national backorder. Lt. Alexander is in the process of
finding another supplier. At this
time, we are to dilute the 8.4%
- A52 will be out of
service soon for two weeks for ladder and door repairs.
- Lt. Young advised
everyone to make sure the shore line is plugged in tight into Engine
52. Also, pay attention to right
hand turns out of station 92.
- Lt. Settles announced
that Thursdays at Station 51 will be special ops training. He apologized for this morning’s
confusion and promises that future trainings will be in Firehouse.
- Next week’s trainings
are company level and to be performed by the Lieutenants on any topic they
wish.
- Please begin enforcing
the “no sleeping in recliners” policy.
- Tony announced that he
has reviewed the pay histories. Anyone
being overpaid after November 1st will have their pay adjusted
appropriately. No advance
notification will be made.
