Staff Meeting

January 2 & 3, 2002

 

Present:

Steve Coover, Time Smith, Chad Witham, Greg Maxwell, Joe Settles, Tony Slusher, Eric Brown Mike Tibbetts, Jim Engmark, Jeff Smith, Casey Arkins, Ed Fenske, Steve Rowland, Jason Arkins, Joel Thacker and Kim Clawson.

 

 

 

 

  1. Good job to the fitness committee!  Please make every effort to keep the weight rooms clean.  No cadets should be allowed to work on the equipment without adult supervision.

 

  1. Kim gave an update on the awards banquet.

 

  1. Strawberry festival meeting has been tabled until after the Board meeting on Saturday.

 

  1. Toy drive helped over 140 kids.  Great job to Steve Rowland and all the volunteers who helped out!

 

  1. Engine has been ordered and should be in within 10 months.

 

  1. Three complaints have been received recently regarding excessive use of our sirens during early a.m. hours.  Please use common sense.  Also, watch the radio traffic with sirens in the background – extremely difficult to hear.

 

  1. Updates made to chain of command tree.  Be sure to note these.

 

  1. 2002 corporation board is Scott Alexander, Jason Arkins, Mike Hoffman, Tony Slusher and Don Young.

 

  1. Chief Tibbetts appreciates the work performed at station 51.

 

  1. Chief Brown gave an update on the 800 system.

 

  1. There is to be absolutely no parking in front of any of the bay doors.  This is to help reduce the risk of backing incidents.  If you are washing your vehicle, do so promptly, then move it.

 

  1. Tactical 52 is not to be left outside during cold temperatures so personnel can wash their vehicles inside.

 

  1. Do not park in handicap parking spaces at any station.  This will be up to the station officers to enforce.

 

  1. Media calls regarding holes cut in the roof of the house in front of Home Depot are to go to Chief Thacker or Chief Tibbetts.  We had nothing to do with this incident.

 

  1. Anyone wanting to take classes at FDIC should get their completed forms to Chief  Thacker asap.  If you are going just for the exhibits, please handle your own paperwork.

 

  1. TVs for the weight rooms have been purchased by the Board of directors.

 

  1. Reminder to participate in the strawberry festival – this is an important event and you should take pride in your department.

 

  1. Be sure to fill out all appropriate paperwork in a work comp injury.  If questions, see Chief Slauter.

 

  1. The Health and Safety Committee consists of Carey, Nick, Don & Casey and should be meeting in February to discuss TB testing, Hepatitis checking, fit testing for HEPA & SCBA and gear inspections.

 

  1. Don is researching whether we need to draw Hepatitis titers.

 

  1. Engine 53 is back and Tanker may be back Monday.

 

  1. A fourth person will be staffed on Rescue 51.  We will evaluate this after the first couple of months and see how the finances are.

 

  1. Watch for a memo today clarifying radio seating assignments.

 

  1. No radios go home with Chief’s permission.
