IF YOU WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND, REMEMBER TO CONTACT YOUR LIEUTENANT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING ANYTHING THAT WAS DISCUSSED.

  1. Because of the recent terrorist events, all apparatus and stations are to be kept secured.

  1. Be sure to secure personal items in your vehicle to deter from theft.  Also dispose of uniforms properly (not in the dumpster).

  1. There have been some minor improvements in the cleanliness of the fire stations.  However, there is still much room for improvement.  If there are problems with one specific shift or group of people, please let Chief Tibbetts know.

  1. Lt. Rowland stated that the schedule for Fire Prevention week is in FireHouse.  We will be at the schools that week for K-3 grades.  The following week, 4th graders will be taking tours of station 53.  Station 53 open house and dedication ceremony will be Monday, October 8 from 3p-8p.  Please make every effort to be present.  Dedication will be at 1730.

  1. Because of the increased costs of the awards banquet, there will be a $15 per couple and $10 per single charge for the 2002 banquet.  Each will receive a $5 refund at the door upon their arrival.  Anyone having ideas regarding the awards to be presented or overall banquet are urged to contact Kim or Chief Tibbetts as soon as possible.

  1. Shift personnel (24hr or 12hr) must get someone to work for them when they are unable to work their regularly scheduled shift.  A memo was issued by Chief Tibbetts on this on May 14.  If you have any questions, please let him know immediately.

  1. Personnel updates:
    1. Jeremy Pell has not made any further contact with Chief Tibbetts since they last spoke approximately two months ago.  Therefore, he will be considered resigned from the department.
    2. Dave Kelley and Joe Marsh have returned from their leaves and are working on duty hours.
    3. Ed Fenske will return to duty as soon as his leg heals.

  1. Station 53 Apparatus
    1. Engine 53 will be in service soon.  We have had a problem with the hose coming off of the truck while driving down the road.  Chief Tibbetts has been in contact with the factory, which states that they have a couple of solutions they feel will work.
    2. Tanker 53 was recently leaking oil.  It was later determined (after a costly Stoops inspection) that the truck was almost 1 gallon over-filled on oil.

  1. Engine 51 insurance claim has been completed and we received just over $92,000 for the damage.  Chief Tibbetts will be combining that money with BIF money and cumulative fund money to purchase a new truck.  Carey will follow up with the status of the BIF money.

  1. Chief Cassin stated that because of the lack of interest and participation in redesigning the department uniform patch, we will stay with the one we currently use.

  1. There will be EMS cabinets at all three stations with the following people responsible:  Lt. Settles (St51), Lt. Alexander (St52), Battalion Chiefs (St53).  Station 52 will be the only one with ALS supplies.

  1. Make sure maintenance items are completed on the apparatus.  Do not delete scheduled items out of FireHouse.

  1. MECA radios have been reprogrammed to display differently on the dispatch consoles.  For example, Aerial 52’s radio now shows as E52/A52.  R51 is reading as Carmel Engine 3.  Lt. Wilson is working on this problem.

  1. Chief Tibbetts will be meeting with Decatur Township’s Fire Chief, Dale Henson, sometime in October to discuss mutual aid.

  1. New radios should be in and working by the end of November.

  1. Lt. Settles stated that the Fitness Committee recently held their first meeting and the minutes are in FireHouse.  The next meeting is October 2nd at 1500 hours.  See him with any questions.

  1. This week’s training has been Auto Extrication and has been held at Hix Auto.

  1. Trench In-Service training will be conducted October 22-23-24 and will be on Olive Branch Road, just west of Mullinix Road.

  1. When making an entry in FireHouse, please use full names wherever space allows.

  1. A policy regarding SOR’s and waiting on the scene for a parent / guardian to arrive is still being reviewed.

  1. Chief Cassin announced that we will soon be making major changes to all the department computers, the network and upgrading to FireHouse 5.0.  Please be patient during this transition period.

  1. FYI only, the showers have been plumbed correctly at station 53.

  1. Effective immediately, no one is to donate blood while on duty.

  1. Chief Slauter will be splitting the responsibilities of the safety division.  Nick Alford will work on fit testing and gear issues.  Don Young will work on immunizations, TB testing, and fit testing.
