  1. If you have someone you’d like to nominate for Firefighter of the Quarter, please submit it in writing to Kim by July 7th.
  1. If you have voice mail on your pager, please be sure to record a personalized greeting (instead of the computer programmed message that it automatically comes with).
  1. Also, if you receive a voice mail message, please return it within the hour it is received.  If that is not possible, return the message the same day.
  1. Personnel:

Matt Partain – reserve to compensated.

Barry Lee – cadet to reserve

Ron Stevens – reserve to compensated pending testing

Jon Cook – reserve to compensated

Tom Arkins – resigned

Chad Abel – will be resigning

*  Staff asked that Lt. Skipper post a list at each station of those cadets who are cleared to ride out on the engines.

*  Next reserve process will start sometime around September.  We need to be sure we communicate this with other
local fire departments in hopes of boosting our Paramedic staffing.

  1. After a budget meeting this morning, it was determined that the volunteer corporation will only have enough money to fund 8 personnel, thus having a total of 10 on shift.  The budget is extremely tight this year.  Just as a side note, 560 hours went unfilled May 1 – June 12.
  1. County meeting went very well.  Thanks to all who participated.
  1. The Strawberry Festival also went very well.  Thanks again to all who participated.
  1. The Johnson County Fair will be July 16-22.  We have the coverage on Wednesday, all day, and we will be helping with the demolition derby on Saturday night.  We will be taking Tanker 52 and the golf cart.
  1. A ground breaking ceremony has been tentatively set for July 7th at noon for the new Headquarters.  Chief Dutton requested that the committee meet to finalize any  decisions that are remaining (i.e. ceiling type, layout of training room/office, etc.).
  1. Bid packets for Engine 53 are due back on July 11th at station 51.  Chief Tibbetts will open the bids at 1700 hours and read the total amount of the bid to be recorded in the official minutes.  The committee will have until July 26th to review the bids and make a proposal to the District Board.  It was agreed that we should have members from the District Board on the committee, as we did with the Aerial.  Chief Dutton reminded everyone that $275,000 is the absolute maximum – no exceptions.
  1. Chief Dutton will be on vacation from June 29th through July 16th.  He may be paged at 1-888-893-9177 in urgent situations ONLY!  Everything else goes through Chief Tibbetts.  During this time, A shift day battalion will be Chief Brown and the night battalion will be Lt. Thacker.  Weekend A shift battalion will still be Lt. Thacker.
  1. Recruitment (see item 4).
  1. We are still waiting on City of Greenwood to approve the sewer tie in for station 51.
  1. Once the station 51 sewer project has been completed, work will begin on sinking piers to support the south bay at station 52.
  1. Lt. Settles stated that work on the Trench Trailer would be completed by July 16th.
  1. Lt.  Skipper is making arrangements for having the rust spots on Engine 51 repaired.
  1. Effective August 1, trainings will be conducted on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  After review, it was decided that Saturday trainings are very rarely attended.  Inspections will be moved to Thursdays and Pre Plans on Fridays.
  1. Special upcoming trainings include:
    1. July 22 – Pike Twp. Fire Training Tower
    2. July 29 – Airport Flash Chamber
  1. Incident commanders are rarely getting feedback from interior crews on incidents.  Be sure that this starts getting done!
  1. Rumors have been flying that Chief Tibbetts has called Perry Township Fire Department regarding Rescue 51 being called on their Mutual Aid so frequently.  This is only a rumor.  Chief Tibbetts has told PTFD that whatever they request on Mutual Aid, they will get!  If anyone knows of someone calling PTFD to complain about the Rescue assisting them on Mutual Aid, Chief Tibbetts wants to be notified immediately.  This type of action will not be tolerated.
  1. Chief Dutton asked Lt. Slauter to check with Lt. Marsh to find out the status on the mapping of coordinates in preparation for MECA.
  1. The Jeep Cherokee is officially out of service.  Once it has been stripped, it will be sold.
  1. Chief Dutton asked Lt. Alford to better organize those people (Kindred, Alford, Terry, Cox) who are attending Tuesday and Thursday night Fire Officer I classes.  Plan ahead for coverage and don’t wait until the day of the shift to try to get someone to cover from 6-10.  If there is adequate staffing, personnel can be moved between stations for that short amount of time.
  1. Now that Chris Kindred is working on a shift, a priority should be getting him cleared to chauffeur, and not permitting him to function as the company officer.
  1. Lt. Thacker stated that there still seems to be a select few people who are not meeting their minimum training requirement of 3 hours per month.  It was agreed that these people should be notified (early) that if they continue to fail the meet that requirement, they will not be permitted to work on duty hours.
  1. Just a reminder that the Rescue is to go to station 52 during regular company trainings.
  1. Scott Cassin will be revising the smoking policy to include any form of tobacco usage.
  1. Be sure to sign all EMS reports.
  1. John McMillan is no longer our representative at CHS.  He is now at CHN.  Our new representative is Richard Lewis.  John Zartman is still in charge of EMS Education.
  1. Training reports must be completed for all trainings.  Print your name.
  1. EMTs must be proficient in the operation of the 12 lead EKG in case they are transmitting info to hospital.
