1.
Firefighter of the Quarter nominations for the first quarter of this year
are due to Chief Dutton by tomorrow, 1300 hours.
2.
Chief Dutton will be out of service from April 18 through April 24 ref.
Knee surgery. A shift battalion
spots will be opened to those who are qualified to fill it.
3.
We have recently encountered financing problems with station 53 with
regards to getting the hourly wage approved. It was the State’s responsibility to notify the local union
representative but they did not. If
we do not get the budget order by April 27th, we cannot award the
bids. Same problem with
4.
If we can’t get funding for station 53, we will not have funding for
Engine 53.
5. Capital outlay purchases…
- Trench trailer should be in by 4/6.
- New grass truck is being searched for. If we cannot find one by May which meets our specifications, we will have to order a 2001 model and receive it in August.
- New battalion vehicle has been ordered. Once it is in, the alternators will have to be switched.
- We are looking at purchasing a trailer for the golf cart to be stored in, but which can also be used as a staging area during an event.
- Scott is still working on the computer link between the stations. It may be slightly more than originally anticipated if we put a receiver on North Grove Elementary’s tower. He’s going to call MPI today and try to explore our options.
-
We have purchased a 12 lead EKG and it should be in by the end of March.
We will be receiving some financial reimbursement from
6.
Chief Dutton wanted to remind everyone that staffing priorities are a
Paramedic at station 52, a driver on Aerial 52, and a Paramedic at station
51…in that order!
7.
Station 51 sewer is proceeding and we will soon be looking for people to
bid on the excavation work. We are
looking for people to bid on the electrical work for the air vac at station 52.
We will be extending the front apron width at station 52 approximately
4’ to accommodate the aerial outriggers.
8.
The budget is extremely tight as usual, therefore, please try to conserve
fuel. Planning your day helps so
that you only have to make minimal trips out in the district.
Because of the minimum raise increases, we anticipate the reserves
receiving a $.50 raise on 9/1, and another $.50 raise on 1/1 for all employees.
9.
Battalions need to be more specific when entering the ambulance status in
FireHouse.
10. Critical Incident Response Team discussion.
- At the CIRT training on 3/21 there was an incident where team personnel rode on the back step of the Rescue for several miles. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TO HAPPEN EVER!
- It was made adamantly clear that regardless of personal differences on the team, Lt. Alexander shall be the District representative.
- Medical direction for the team needs to be separated as much as possible from the medical direction for White River Township Fire Department.
- From now on, when anything is purchased for the team, it will be coming out of that individual’s clothing allowance and must be approved by Chief Brown first.
- White River personnel can still train with the team, but at this time emergency responses have been suspended due to lack of medical direction for the team.
-
Wayne is working with the FBI to try to get joint trainings started.
11.
Chief Dutton is looking for personnel to volunteer in a speakers group
which could attend various meetings and functions and promote our cause for
raising the maximum levy $.29.
12.
Pending results of the NFPA Firefighter I/II testing, we have nine
reserves ready to move to compensated.
13.
Chief Dutton reminded everyone that the Battalion needs to be aware of
everything going on during his shift.
14.
If anyone is having trouble with the new dispatch protocols, let Chief
Tibbetts know immediately.
15.
All public relations events are to be scheduled around the training
schedule. Also be sure it is in
FireHouse.
16.
Remember to promote a good public image.
No dirty/torn uniforms or shorts in cold weather.
Officers need to enforce this.
17.
Scott will be obtaining lease prices from Gateway computers to upgrade
our current system.
18.
Scott has created a template for power point presentations.
This is available for your use if you are conducting a White River
Training.
19. Eric is working on getting an NFPA Investigator class started this summer. If you are interested in this, contact Eric or watch for more information.
