February 16 & 17, 1999 | |
================================================================================= |
Tuesday (16th) meeting called to order at 1308 hours. Present: Casey Arkins, Eric Brown, Kim Clawson, Mike Dutton, Brian Griffith, Joe Marsh, Jeremy McKee, Jeff Smith, and Jeremy Pell.
Wednesday (17th) meeting called to
order at 1300 hours. Present: Joel
Thacker, Chad Abel, Dave Sherfick, Mike Tibbetts, Eric Brown, Kim Clawson, Joe
Settles, Scott Cassin, and Mike Dutton.
IF YOU WERE UNABLE TO
ATTEND, REMEMBER TO CONTACT YOUR LIEUTENANT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR
COMMENTS REGARDING ANYTHING THAT WAS DISCUSSED.
1.
Jeremy
Pell discussed the process to report dispatch problems by using the log at each
station. See him with questions.
2.
Jeremy
discussed changes to be made to the command worksheet and asked for input.
Final copy will be placed in the Battalion.
Joel Thacker asked that we begin using these benchmarks on the radio as
well (instead of ‘interior attack’ use ‘attack 1’).
3.
Chief
Dutton requested that crews use F2 on all major incidents, only if mutual aid is
not coming.
4.
The skid
unit will be pulled out of the Grass Rig on an annual basis (usually late
December) and it and the truck will be winterized. The unit will be stored so that the Grass Rig can be utilized
as a pickup truck in the Winter.
5.
Jeremy
Pell discussed forthcoming changes to the schedule. It will show only an Officer position, and the remaining
positions will be firefighter only. The
officer will be completely in charge of his/her station.
He will be posting a memo on this with March’s schedule.
6.
Chief
Dutton announced a zero tolerance stance on using Department equipment to view
internet pornography. He stated
that anyone who does this on Department equipment and is caught will be fired
immediately, as well as any officer who knowingly allows it to happen.
7.
Reminder
that the Safety Officer MUST be notified if any department vehicle is involved
in an MVA, regardless of the amount of damage.
8.
Budget is
still tight, so there will be no extra expenditures.
9.
Joel
Thacker requested that trainings begin being held on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This
will start 3/1/99 and will be for a trial basis (1 month) only and will be
re-evaluated. Due to
inconsistencies with current training schedule, Chief Dutton ordered a training
schedule, along with a list of instructors assigned to each class. Joel will have it to him by 2/18/99. He also stated that anyone assigned to teach a class must
have more than one hour’s notice.
10.
Joel
stated that we are on schedule with the live training burns and are currently
waiting for asbestos test results.
11.
Chief
Dutton stated that if you are on station, whether on duty or not, the same rules
still apply to you. This includes
smoking in Department apparatus, conduct on station, etc. etc. etc.
Officers are expected to enforce this.
12.
If there
is any surplus ’98 BIF money, it will be used to purchase new tables and
chairs for the training room at station 52.
13.
PMT
items:
-
They are
to complete a FireHouse report if they respond on a mutual aid run by
themselves.
-
The
ambulance is not to run emergent on alarms.
-
Medic 52
has been ‘hanging out’ at station 51. They
are to take care of any business they have ASAP and return to station 52.
-
PMT
employees are not to wear WRTFD clothing AT ANY TIME! They are to be in their uniform (blue dress shirt) 7a – 5p
and after that they can wear PMT sweats, etc.
NOT WRTFD CLOTHES!
14.
Eric
Brown asked that everyone be extremely careful what they say on or after a
suspicious fire.
15.
Joe Marsh
stated that Rescue 51’s Q-siren should now be functioning.
If it goes out again, he says to check your mirror and see if the low
strobes are still working (they are on the same circuit).
Any problems, let him know.
16.
After
discussion, Chief Dutton will be considering allowing someone capable of doing
minor vehicle maintenance items to work a few extra part time hours per week
(such as Carey Slauter is doing now with the Health & Safety Division).
17.
Compartment
heaters have been installed in both engines and the tanker.
No cages/guards have been placed around them but Lt. Marsh doesn’t feel
that anything will be leaning up against them.
18.
Joe
Settles stated that they are considering locking completed EMS reports (not
NFIRS) at each station. He and Rick
Taylor would have the only keys available.
After discussion, there will also be one placed in the lock box at
station 51.
19.
Joe
stated that there are still problems with the correct report getting filled out.
If there is a patient, use an EMS report.
If there are only victims, use a fire report.
He will issue a memo on this.
20.
Discussion
on first six career positions. (See
below.)
21.
Discussion
on re-installing 5th seat on both engines. Tabled until Aerial comes in (with new air packs) because at
this time we do not have enough packs to put the 5th seat back in.
22.
No
further new business and meeting adjourned.
NEXT
