White River Township Fire Protection
District
Pre-Meeting
Report for November 6, 2007
Compiled October 31, 2007
- Due to the proximity of the meeting to the
beginning of the month, the financial reports will not be available until after
November 1st.
- We are making progress on the Station 51
project. Yesterday, Chief Cassin
and I met with JE Mechanical, JW Sims (electrical consultant), and Dan
Sulkoske. JW Sims stated that the
electrical issue is 120% better. He
anticipated giving his final approval in his report with the exception of
some very minor issues. Those
issues were being addressed by JE Mechanical that afternoon. We still have some other minor issues to
address with the kitchen hood system.
The final paint touch-up and cleaning should be completed this
week. Johnson County
performed the Certificate of Occupancy inspection yesterday
afternoon. We are awaiting the
results of that inspection. Senefeld
and Associates has completed the Certificate of Substantial
Completion. With any luck, we will finish
the minor repairs next week and receive the Certificate of Occupancy the
following week.
- Legal counsel should have an update on the Bluff Road
property acquisition project.
- No new news on the sale of the Runyon Road
property. We are simply waiting to
proceed until we get a little closer on the anticipated move date for the
new station.
- No new news on the Station 53 sewer project as
well. The project is still at the
engineering level.
- Charlie Fraker applied for the Fire Prevention
Officer position. He was
interviewed by Chief Brown and me.
We believe he will be a very good fit for the position. We anticipate appointing him to that
position after the appropriate changes are made to the Safety Board
document.
- Per the motion at the last meeting, changes to
the Safety Board document will be presented to include the appointed rank
of Captain.
- The Johnson County Public Safety Data &
Communications Consortium Board has requested that agencies participating
in data sharing to sign an acceptable use agreement. I have forwarded a copy to Tricia Leminger. I will request that the District Board
sign the agreement.
- The career firefighter process has been
completed. We will be presenting
one name for approval by the Safety Board to be hired full-time with the permanent
rank of firefighter. This position
will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Lt. Mark Williams in July.
The next meeting is
scheduled for Tuesday, December 4, 2007.
