White River Township Fire Protection
District
Pre-Meeting
Report for July 17, 2007
Compiled June 25, 2007
- We’re still waiting on utility hook-up (water,
electric, gas) to get the final phase of the project going in
earnest. Everything is predicated
upon the successful movement of the electrical primary that is in front of
the building. We’re still several
weeks away from that; however Duke Energy was considering turning on our
transformer since they have the down payment check in hand. Otherwise, everything else is still
edging along. A full report will be
made at the meeting and everyone will be brought up to par on any
outstanding items.
- We’re now being told that the Bluff Road property is likely going
to be purchased by Saint Francis Hospitals. This would include all property
surrounding but not including the proposed fire station and the new
Starbucks. We have a meeting
scheduled with the real estate agent next week to get more information.
- We have also got the ball rolling on the old
Station 51 building in terms of getting it appraised and contacting an
agent. It is zoned B1 or 2, so only
light commercial (non-retail) would be allowed to exist in the building. The chances of re-zoning are next to
nothing according to the Planning and Zoning Department, so we’ll most
likely be selling it as is. Very
early estimates are coming in at between $150,000 and $250,000 in terms of
value.
- No new word on the septic system project at
Station 53.
- Lieutenant Mark Williams, who was hired with the
large group back in October of 2004, has left to return to the Fishers
Fire Department where he originally came from. He felt that he fit in better there and
missed his good friends and colleagues, which ultimately prompted the
return. Because of the vacancy,
Engineer Scott Tichenor was promoted to Lieutenant effective 6/24/07. We will fill the open Engineer position
upon the completion of the current full-time hiring process toward the end
of this year.
- Be prepared for the public hearing of the 2008
budget at this meeting. Also, Steve
Dyson should have a transfer resolution for $500,000 to be transferred
from the General Fund to the Capital Projects Fund to pay for the fire
department’s portion of the Station 51 project.
- Well, that’s all for this month.
The next meeting is
scheduled for Tuesday, August 7, 2007.
