White River Township Fire Protection
District
Pre-Meeting
Report for June 7, 2007
Compiled May 29, 2007
- The water tap at the new fire station has finally
been completed and things are really moving along now. Most of the exterior concrete work has
been completed and interior finishes are under way as well. A full report will be made at the
meeting and everyone will be brought up to par on any outstanding change
orders.
- No new word on the Bluff Road property this month.
- No new word on the septic system project at
Station 53 as well.
- Steve Dyson will be present to deliver the first
draft of the updated final fiscal plan with regards to the 2008 budget and
beyond.
- We have the final Memorandum of Agreement
between the district and the Indiana Task Force One group ready to be
signed. We will have it for ready
for the meeting and to answer any lingering questions.
- As we near the completion of the Station 51
project, we need to enter into discussions with the Board regarding the
future of the existing facility.
Although we have known for quite some time now that the facility
was not included in our future plans, we need to verify this fact and make
an official decision. Several years
ago the site was a potential candidate for a future training facility;
however as the Strategic Planning process progressed and evolved the site
was determined not suitable for such a project. Exploring due diligence, other
possibilities were also considered, such as storage, maintenance,
ambulance response, etc, however, following subsequent cost-benefit
analyses, none were ever proven practical.
Therefore, the site is essentially of no value in terms of
usability by the fire department.
Based on this conclusion, the department’s recommendation will be
to sell the property. We will be
open to suggestions on how to proceed.
- White River Township Trustee Jay Marks would
like to make a short presentation regarding the addition of storm sirens
throughout White River
Township. He has asked to be placed on the agenda
at the June meeting.
- Well, that’s all for this month.
The next meeting is
scheduled for Tuesday, July 3, 2007.
