Pre-Meeting Report for June 6, 2006 (06-06-06)

Compiled May 30, 2006

  1. Per request at the last meeting, I have included the meeting minutes from the 3/29, 4/20, and 5/2 meetings for review.

  1. No new news on the Task Force One agreement.  It is still under review by Legal Counsel who is working with some of the Indianapolis departments on wording and responsibilities.  It will be on the agenda in case there is an update.

  1. The Station 52 project is moving along, albeit not at the pace originally anticipated.  The structure is now under roof and windows were installed today.  HVAC is also being installed.  No word on the anticipated completion date.

  1. The Station 51 project is finally ready to get underway as well.  There is a construction trades meeting set for next Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the site to discuss the timeline of the project as well as other details.  On-site activity has started with the area being staked and the delivery of some construction materials.

  1. We have been working with the accountants over the past month getting the 2007 budget ready for initial review.  The accountants will be on hand to make a presentation at the meeting.

  1. The Apparatus Specification Team and Legal Counsel have both been reviewing the bids that were received last month regarding the replacement of Engine 54.  The Team has determined that the lowest bidder made several errors in putting their bid together as well as fell short on some of the items requested, such as paint warranties and inspection trips.  Therefore, the Team, upon approval of Legal Counsel, is prepared to ask the Board to throw out the lowest bidder and go with the second lowest.  Several of the Team members will be on hand at the meeting to make a presentation and answer any questions regarding the specifications.

  1. The engineering process for the Station 53 sewer project is still underway.  No further information is available at this time on this project.

  1. The first Tuesday in July is Independence Day.  The Board may want to consider a different day for a meeting.

  1. That’s it for this month.…… Scott
