White River Township Fire Protection District

Pre-Meeting Report for May 2, 2006

Compiled May 1, 2006

  1. Because of the proximity of this meeting to the end of the month, there will be no finance reports available.  As soon as the April reconciliation is completed, I will forward copies of all the reports via e-mail to each of the Board Members for review.  If anyone needs anything specific between now and then, feel free to contact me in the office.  I’m hoping to complete this by the end of today.

  1. No new news on the Task Force One agreement as of today.  Recall that it was tabled at the last couple of meetings until a review was completed by legal counsel.  It will be on the agenda in case there is an update.

  1. After several weeks of interviews and background checks, Crystal Young has been selected to fill the vacant Administrative Assistant position.  Her first day will be Monday, May 1st and will be working 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.  Crystal brings a wealth of knowledge in both inter-office operations as well as other specific disciplines such as payroll, personnel management, and computer technology.  She will be a welcome addition to our front office team.  I have also asked her to attend the meeting so she can meet everyone (and hopefully take meeting minutes).

  1. If you haven’t been by Station 52 lately, construction is now underway.  They are starting the framing portion of the project today.  So far, other than a cut gas line, the project has been running smoothly.

  1. The Station 51 project is ready to get underway any day now as well.  Excavation could start as early as this week.  There is a pre-construction meeting set for this Wednesday at 2:00pm at Headquarters to discuss the timeline of the project.

  1. The Fire Prevention and Protection Ordinance received its final approval at the state last month and is now officially in effect.  Thanks to Chief Brown and all who helped make this huge leap in future fire protection possible.

  1. Everything should be set for a bid opening on the new engine.  Chief Slauter has been working with the different manufacturers and with legal counsel in setting this up.

  1. The engineering process for the Station 53 sewer project is still underway.  Crews have been working on surveying property and other related items.  No further information is available at this time on this project as well.

  1. That’s it for this month.…… Scott

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 6th, 2006.
