Joel Thacker

Chief Thacker began his career at White River Twp Fire Department at an early age serving in nearly every capacity within the department. He began originally as a cadet in 1990 while still in High School and later becoming a part-time member in 1992. In 1999 he was hired full-time as a Lieutenant and also as one of the first six full-time firefighting employees of the department. He was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2001 and moved into the office in 2004 as the Chief of Training. He is a certified Fire Officer IV, Instructor II/III, as well as an Indiana Paramedic. Additionally, Joel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Serving as the Chief of Administration, Joel is responsible for overseeing the 'business' aspects of the department's operations. His primary responsibilities include serving as the department's fiscal officer, coordinating inter-office operations, and overseeing the Information Services Department and maintaining the department's website.
