Highland Park Homeowner’s Association

Minutes of May 13, 2010 Board meeting (2010-1)

Meeting Attendees

Jerry Day

Nancy Loomis

Maggie Plummer

Fritz Wurster

The meeting was held at Maggie Plummer’s home.  The meeting started at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

Architectural Committee

Fritz Wurster wants to continue to have the same non-board members continue as members of the Architectural Committee, namely John Price and LeeAnne Ferry. Fritz has received requests for approval for:

1) a fence at 2147 Dockside;

2) a pool for Lot 127;

3) a new home on Lot 179;

4) a new home on Lot 137.

The new owner of Lot 163 has offered to complete the sidewalk on this vacant lot.  Board did not think written approval was necessary for only sidewalk installation.  Maggie Plummer will call the owner.

Grounds Committee

This Committee continues to be comprised of Fritz Wurster and Jerry Day.

Jerry Day requested that we switch irrigation services to Hoosier Irrigation after they came out and repaired our system last year after our previous company could not meet our time table.  Everyone agreed.  Jerry will coordinate to have the system turned on and regulated.

Fritz reported that he had already received a bid from Brickman to have the dead bushes at our front entrance replaced the week prior to Memorial Day.  The price for this work is $885.00.  The Board agreed to have this work done.

A resident in Brockton has requested that Highland Park paint the iron gate between the two subdivisions.  Jerry Day will check all the gates and coordinate the repair.

Maggie Plummer reported that the guardhouse (at the front entrance) has a broken window and needs painting.

Fritz Wurster also stated that he has preliminarily discussed having the street trees trimmed by McNamee.

Maggie Plummer reported that a resident had reported that he and a neighbor had been mowing a vacant lot for several years as the owners were not taking care of this.  A certified letter will be sent asking the owners to assume this responsibility from now on.  Failure to assume mowing will result in the HOA having the mowing done and billing the owners.

Flood Plain Changes

Fritz Wurster reported that he was notified by a resident selling their home on Caledonian that FEMA had revised their flood plain maps since the 2008 flood which necessitated flood insurance where none had previously been required.  Although Johnson County officials received these new maps, they stated they did not have the manpower to verify the changes and make notifications.  More information needs to be gathered before the Board can make a determination on the total effects to Highland Park.  Nancy Loomis will work on this.

Neighborhood Party

The Board definitely wants to have an outside neighborhood party this year.  It will again take place in one of our cul-de-sacs.  The Board will hopefully provide a tent, tables, seating, food, drinks, and entertainment so that residents just have to show up.  Nancy Loomis is heading up this effort.  Please email our web site if you would like to help with this event. We will announce a date as soon as one is established.
