Meeting started at 5:00 pm and adjourned at 6:30 pm. Held at Maggie Plummer’s home.

This was a special Board Meeting called to discuss installation of equipment in the front ponds. Although a bid was obtained in mid-March, no contract was signed and equipment was not ordered.  The Board apologizes for this delay.  Subsequently two bids were obtained and details of the bids were discussed with the contractors and members of the Board and an interested homeowner. The Board met to discuss the details of the bids and to move forward with a contract and install date which will probably be in July.

Fritz Wurster went on record to voice his total opposition to the Association paying for any equipment for the ponds. Bill Dickie stated that the Board had already voted on the issue and the equipment would be purchased and installed.

The two bids were submitted by Leistner Aquatic Services and by Aquatic Control.  Bill Dickie felt strongly that Leistner should be used because of his responsiveness even if his prices were slightly higher.  Bill is going to check with Leistner on the 7% competitive equipment discount which is offered by Otterbine (fountain manufacturer) and why the bid did not reflect this discount.

The only two other issues were the lights for the fountains and the size of the pump for the waterfall.

The lights were NOT approved.  If residents who want lights want to pay themselves, then Bill will make lights part of the order.  Two pond lot owners subsequently volunteered to poll the pond lot owners on this issue and get back to Bill Dickie.

The other issue was the size of the pump for the waterfall.  The choice was between a 3hp and a 5 hp motor.  The 5 hp motor was $300 more to purchase and $200 more per year to operate.  The smaller pump was approved.

The total cost for all the fountain and transfer pump equipment will be somewhere between $21,000 and $22,000 depending on the equipment discount.  This is excluding a $1650 light package per fountain.

Bill also reported that the homeowner who built over the lake assess easement for the upper pond has given notice that he will not grant another easement on his property.  The Association will move forward to obtain an easement by necessity using legal counsel.

The next Board Meeting will be on Wednesday May 21st at Fritz Wurster’s home at 5:30 pm.
