EuroTrip 2009
Before
it was over, we would have traveled over 10,000 miles, visited four different
countries, dealt with three different currencies, three different languages, two
different power requirements, and utilize nearly every form of public
transportation including planes, boats, trains, taxis, and the subway. Our
"once-every-four-years" trip this go around (courtesy of Capital One of course)
was to Ireland, England, France, and Iceland, and all the major cities in
between. I think we hit all the major tourist traps along the way with the
Eiffel Tower being the worst, spending over seven hours just at that one
location due to long lines. But it was well worth the wait as the views
were tremendous and just the stigma of the structure was incredible. While
in Birmingham, England, we attended (and participated in) the Aibo Addicts
conference and met many new friends there. We spent two days there and had
a great time immersing ourselves into the local English culture. Iceland
was probably the most unusual location on the trip, having to deal with
twenty-two hours of daylight and of course the much cooler temperatures.
It's a geologically-active island with earthquakes and volcanoes and resembles
the surface of mars (no trees and plenty of open plains of nothing but volcanic
rock). Overall, we had an incredible time on our adventure and would love
to do it again someday. Some of our favorite photos of the journey are
displayed below.
