The whirlwind trip
After
five states, five hotels, two rental cars, 5,400 miles of flying and 1,500 miles
of driving, it was time to come home to rest! After a couple of days in
Orlando, and of course Disney World, it was off to Los Angeles where I met up
with some friends. We had a couple of meals and did some sightseeing while
we were together, but then it was off on the road trip portion of the excursion.
I traveled across the Mojave desert in my Dodge Charger through Palm Springs,
where I stopped to use the pool at a local hotel for about an hour (it was
triple-digit heat, so I didn't stay too long), and then stopped for the evening
in Blythe, California. The next morning I continued the road trip up
through Lake Havasu City to see the London Bridge and then finally on to
Las Vegas for a few days where I again met up with some friends and attended a
conference luncheon. From there, the car traveled to Saint George, Utah,
which is just outside of Zion National Park. It was unbelievably beautiful
there with great weather and awesome views of the mountains. On the last
day, it was back to Las Vegas for the three-hour flight home.
