Racing in the desert
Within
the span of a week, I witnessed two races in the desert! First was the
Firefighter Combat Challenge where I traveled with my friend, Steve Coover, to
Henderson, Nevada just outside Las Vegas. He competed in the event and I
went along as his guest and to document the competition. It was an
interesting few days to say the least. Toward the end of the week, I met
up with Dad, Dick, and Denny in Las Vegas for a few days on the Strip.
From there, we all flew down and met Sean and Denny's brother Nick and his wife
Gerry in sunny Phoenix, Arizona. While in Phoenix we went to the Checker
Auto Parts 500 Nascar race and watched Kevin Harvick win. The next day we
all jumped in the van and took a day trip down to Tucson and then on to
Tombstone. All-in-all it was a fun, but busy trip. Some of photos
are below.
