Watch out for the birds
We're
calling it a weak moment at the pet shop as we are now the proud owners of two
Australian Zebra Finches! We were mesmerized by them in the shop and just
had to take them home. There is a male and a female, but they as of yet
don't have names. They are somewhat rare, but what makes them even more
unique is that the male has a genetic 'flaw' that has caused him to have two
black patches on his head. This makes him even more desirable to breed.
We had them less than a week and the female laid a clutch of four eggs in her
nest. We'll post pictures of the babies if they hatch. View the
movie clip below to see the male building the nest (while SHE watches) and hear
his chirp.
