Balloon race is a bust
This
was the fourth year in a row that we've started the Johnson County Fair with the
annual balloon race. The race is always on opening day and this year was
no exception. What was exceptional however, was the turnout. The
first thing we noticed were fewer balloons than normal. In fact, we only saw two
get to take off. The other five or six were ready to go but then suddenly
the crews began tearing them down. Weather seemed okay so we weren't sure
what happened. Regardless, we still got to see some balloons, but more
importantly got to eat the ever-famous shish-ka-bob and rice!
