Our inaugural Thanksgiving day feast
We took our first crack at preparing the Thanksgiving day dinner for our family this year. We had a total of 8 adults and 1 child over. The dinner turned out pretty good and seemed to come together without any hitches. We of course had a lot leftover, but that will be lunches for the next week! We offered up the traditional fare of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, home-made stuffing, yams, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, and rolls. We also had tons of snack foods to try before dinner (vegetables and dip, sausage slices, crackers, etc) and of course cake, pumpkin and pecan pies for desert. No one went home hungry! It was nice to try out the new dining room set and all the new china. We found out that Tryptophan also causes cats to get sleepy, as noted in the photo below.
It was also Mandy's birthday this year on Thanksgiving and we celebrated in
style complete with a chocolate and vanilla birthday cake (you can check the
pictures yourself to see how old she is). Ask her about the gift her
wonderful husband gave her also.
