Covered Bridge Festival
We
spent the day today at the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival out near Terre
Haute, Indiana. Unfortunately, we left the camera in the car and didn't
realized it until we had walked some distance, so we didn't get any photos of
the bridges. Oh well, maybe next year. Anyway, the weather was a
little rough at first with temps in the lower 40's with a howling wind and rain
in the area, but as the day went on it improved considerably. At least it
was dry. We had a good time visiting the town of Bridgeton, which is the
location of the most famous bridge on the tour (and in Indiana they say).
The entire town is converted into a fair-like atmosphere with antique vendors
and food everywhere! It was almost like visiting the state fair. We
made it through the whole day without buying anything until on our way home we
spotted a roadside sale that caught our eyes. We ended up buying an actual
working traffic signal! (We didn't ask where they got it!) It's in
great condition, but in need of a little cleaning up. I took a photo of it
when we got home, which can be seen by clicking the thumbnail below.
