Hello from Los Angeles!
We discovered by accident that my brother Sean was working in Los Angeles this week, so while we were in Las Vegas we thought we would drive out to see him. The drive out took considerably longer than it should mainly due to bad weather in the area. On the way, we saw a lot of forest fire damage from the fires a couple of weeks ago. Entire mountainsides were wiped out. The rain was making things worse by causing mud slides and making the area smell terrible. Los Angeles received half of its annual rainfall today alone with hail as deep as ten inches in south central L.A. We finally made it out to Sean's hotel and hooked up for dinner. The rain was still coming down so he invited us to stay over night, which we did. The next day the weather was beautiful and we decided to stay in L.A. and do some sightseeing for the day. We started out by visiting (again) fire station 127 of Los Angeles County (see the photos below). After that we went down to see the Queen Mary which has been moored there since 1971. It was a fantastic day as we spent over four hours on the ship walking throughout on the self-guided tour. The drive back to Las Vegas was horrible as well, taking almost six hours to complete.
