And the cat went running!
I never though a cat could move that fast, but he sure fooled me! Sometime around lunch today I was working at the computer when I heard something hitting the basement windows (which is difficult to do since we're below ground and the window wells act as shields). About that same time I saw a little black cat running for his life up the stairs where he abruptly stopped when he realized the noise was louder up there. He wasn't sure what to do so he ran back down again and under the ping-pong table. Curious myself as to what the noise was, I immediately went upstairs to discover that it was hailing out! You would have thought the hailstones would be about the size of baseballs with all the commotion they were creating by hitting the glass windows. Mandy slept through the whole event, and by the time she got up to look, it was all over and the hail was melted. Since it doesn't happen very often, I took a couple of quick photos of the pea-sized hail.
